Chateau d'Azay-le-Rideau
This litte fairy-tale castle was a wonderful stop for lunch. The interior featured wonderful staircases with an Italian flair. The chateau is actually on an island in the river Indre. The chateau has an interesting past with Francois I snatching it from is builder. The town was small and charming, perfect for a lunch stop.

After the grandeur of Villandry, our next stop felt more quaint and charming. The island castle finds its reflection in the Indre River. The grounds were a perfect place to work in some sketch time and the town, though small, was full of French charm. There was also a most charming herb garden.....needless to say, I spent a lot of time there.
The little herb garden for the castle was quite the contrast to the acres at Villandry.
